What Would a Siri API Look Like? →

Samuel Iglesias:
If I were to speculate about what Apple’s big WWDC TBA session is (some have guessed television), I would guess Apple is going to teach its multitude of developers the basics of natural language processing and how exactly it plans to let them integrate with Siri.
The complexity of this is why I don’t think there will be a Siri API of this sort for quite some time, if ever.
I’d expect third-party-accessible Siri APIs, if they arrive, to be much more simplistic and “dumb” in supported sentence structures and phrasing — something that reads more like AppleScript, such as “Tell Instapaper to update articles”.
But I’d love to be proven wrong.
